I hope they make it scary like the original game. I love the power fantasy of Doom Eternal and I love the idea that the Demons are afraid of the Slayer but I want each enemy to feel substantial if they do a Quake reboot (at least the otherworldly ones, not so much the human grunts and such). I would want there to be actual tension facing off against Shamblers, fiends, knights, etc and make it thick with that otherworldly lovecraftian atmosphere.

Id Software must have a direct sequel to Quake 1 in the works because that's what has the most evidence going for it. There are other clues and hints out there too, but this clip here is the strongest piece of evidence since Hugo explicitly references things specific to Quake 1 multiple times. Quake takes place in the same universe, Shub-Niggurath is regarded as a thing/entity and "the all mother", cosmic horror, Lovecraft and Hellish themes, there's nothing else that it could be. The only argument that I see for Doom 6 is that Microsoft owns Id Software now and Doom Eternal was successful, so Microsoft will command them to keep making more Doom sequels for easy profit.
