This video DOES demonstrate what is being asked of 2.NBT.5.

It reads:
Fluently add and subtract within 100 using strategies based on place value, properties of operations, and/or the relationship between addition and subtraction.

The work being done allows students to understand the concept behind the procedural notation of subtracting. The standards says to subtraction within 100 (the subtrahend can be up to 100). Standard 4.NBT.4, asks for multi-digit work (more than 1, 000).

This video process does NOT address Common Core math standard 2.NBT.5. That standard specifically addresses conceptual understanding -- using strategies based on place value, properties of operations and/or the relationship between addition and subtraction. The procedure modeled her is a 4th grade standard.
