As someone who lost their father in the attacks i just want to say i found this incredibly refreshing. so often we only see the graphic and scarring images of the attacks and the towers falling. and occasionally as part of the skyline in other images/scenes. But rarely have i seen them center stage presented in this way. so thank you.
and for anyone who reads this i ask you consider sharing one of these images for your next post on 9/11. I hardly think anyone wants to see pictures of the tumors and diseases that took their loved ones. we the families do not wish to see the moments those we love were murdered. Share the beauty instead

Like looking at young pictures of a family member who has passed. Strange to feel this for an inanimate object. But they were so much more than just buildings. Their absence always hurts my heart when I look at the scarred skyline where they no longer stand at attention.

It hits home every time I see a movie based in New York from the 70's 80's and 90's.
Those towers were in every N.Y. film of my childhood. Now when I see these old films with them still standing, it hits different.

When I was younger, I used to think that 30 years was such a long time span. But now at the age of 42, I realize how short 30 years really is. It feels like there were there forever, but they weren't even there for half a century.

Living in the Bronx, I used to see these towers every single day from my window. I especially loved looking at them at night, with the white and red lights from the communication tower blinking from the distance. That morning, it was there. I was in the third grade, ready to start my do-now when the impact happened.. Afterwards, not being able to see it at my window anymore was very surreal and depressing. Something about those towers rly gave the city the vibe it was known for.

The World Trade Center buildings were the boxes that the Empire State Building and the Chrysler Building were shipped in.

I recall a funny quote from an architect critic saying this is the ugliest building in NYC and there are two of them.

Seeing the man standing on the antenna of the World Trade Center made me dizzy. If someone had stood me on the antenna of the World Trade Center, I swear i would have fainted and fallen hundreds of feet to the ground.😢

My B-day is Sep 15. Every year I’d go to the WTC as my treat living in CT.

Was supposed to be there on the 11th. Friend from HS worked on top floors of North T. My last visit was Sep 11 2000. I was on the roof making a cell phone call watching helicopters flying lower than where I stood. I MISS THEM ALL THE TIME

The twin towers will always be an icon and New York will never be the same, even if we ignore the twin towers, they were so impressive because they were the same. Their loss represents the pain of a mother when she loses a son, that is New York, the mother who lost two sons.😢😢😢😢😢💔

Man, I'm glad I got to see them before they fell. The first time I ever went to NYC in 1999, I took the path train from NJ to the WTC. When I got to street level and looked up I got vertigo. I ended up moving to the city January 2002. The rubble was still smoking. I also went out in November 2001 and saw the piece of the tower still standing a now iconic image. So sad. I feel like America did forget. Only took around 20 years
