All I wanted for Top Gun 2 was for Maverick and Iceman having a "mall day" on the Stennis. They'd get a haircut, have dinner and swing by the Starbucks after a quick stroll through the grocery store. Ah well.

Life on board sure has changed for the better from 1970. We didn't have time or opportunity for a lot of the fun things shown. You had to make a special effort to get your hair cut are go to the store when you were working 12 hours on and 12 hours off. In your 12 hours off you had to get ready for the next shift, have 2 meals and sleep. You might have 1 hour for something else. The ship store would be out of a lot of things and was not open 24/7. Did you notice how long the hair was on a number of the crew. That is an indication that it is not easy to find the time for a hair cut. Looks like about once every 8 to 12 weeks for a lot of them.
