I read an article about this cold case recently. It said that Carla's killer was married and had children/grandchildren, worked as an assistant pastor in his church, was very active in his community, always helped do charity work with the local neighbors, and just seemed all around nice & friendly towards other people! Goes to show that you never know what kind of monster is lurking behind the mask, trying to hide their dark past & guilt by pretending to be innocent! It also said that when police showed up at his doorstep to arrest him after the DNA results came back after almost 50 years, he had this complete look of shock on his face, like he couldn't believe he had finally been caught! His poor wife though ... 😢 I can't even imagine what was going through her head when she learned that, after about 40+ years of marriage, she was married to a MURDERER the whole time! 😳 I'm just glad to know that Carla's loved ones finally got some closure after so many years of heartache & pain! 😔

Ive seen a few doco's on this case poor Rodney lived his life so traumatised, he felt so guilty that he couldn't save her, but he always lived with a shadow constantly over him as some people truly believed he was the one to hurt Carla and he was just lying about there being someone else, not until DNA cleared him 40+ years later was he his name truly cleared.

To save you time: It was some rando named Glen McCurley. He went to jail for it at age 78, died in jail two years later.

If I remember correctly, the boyfriend tried to get help and had immense guilt about the tragedy. 😢 Sad all around.

Over 50 years ago when I was 19, my boyfriend and I stopped to play frisbee at a park. No one was around. As soon as we were 30 feet or so from the car, another vehicle swooped in and two big guys got out.
My boyfriend took one look and said “get in the car”, and we left.
Who knows if they would have been a problem, better safe than sorry.

Well, at least he spent his last 2 years in prison ! In my opinion, it doesn't make up for the suffering of her family . Especially Rodney having to live all those years, with a question mark over his head ! I'm sure he was accused by more than one person, over the years, after ? While the killer got to live his life, like a regular person ! 🤬

Thats why iv never trusted pastors or church ministers ...a few years ago I was at a funeral ...and this creepy minister was staring at me ...I stared right back at him ...the creep...and he still made a point of coming to chat to me afterwards ...my skin got chills ..goose bumps ...he's lucky other people were all around

I remember seeing an episode about this on discovery, absolutely sad but they did eventually find the guy years later after they had already interviewed him during the time of her murder but it wasn’t enough evidence so he got away with it continuing on with his life and his own family for a good amount of years, It’s a bitter sweet tragedy.
