Shikhar Dhawan announced his retirement from domestic and international cricket on Saturday. The left-handed batter took to social media to post an emotional message for fans where he announced his decision to retire from all forms of cricket. Dhawan last played for the Indian cricket team way back in 2022 during the ODI series against Bangladesh. However, he lost his place to Shubman Gill and other young opening batters in the past couple of years. Dhawan posted a long video message on X (formerly Twitter) to thank his fans as well as the associations for the love and support he received throughout his career.

Earlier this week, the International Cricket Council (ICC) set the ball rolling for the election of its new Chair after the incumbent Greg Barclay decided against seeking a third term. In the ICC corridors, there are strong indications that the current BCCI secretary Jay Shah will replace Barclay, which will make the Indian administrator youngest ever to hold the office.

Former India T20I captain Rohit Sharma has named Rahul Dravid, Ajit Agarkar and Board of Control for Cricket in India honourary secretary Jay Shah as the three pillars behind India's T20 World Cup 2024 triumph. Sharma lauded the trio for creating a supportive space where players were able to perform freely without worrying.

India beat South Africa in a tense final at Barbados on June 29, where the Men in Blue clinched the game by just 7 runs. This marked an 11-year-end to the ICC trophy draught that India had, since their Champions Trophy win in 2013 under the leadership of MS Dhoni.
