Hey brother,
Nice review of the ATH AC44CW. I have the SAME locomotive, same scheme, #6200. Mine derailed like crazy where none of my nicer locos would. I finally found that the problem was that the rear wheels of the front truck, and the front wheels of the rear truck were out of gauge. They were only out a couple thousandths, but it made a HUGE difference when I fixed the problem. Runs like a Kato now.. Just kidding. Runs like an $80 Athearn should...

I have this same locomotive, it should not be making that clicking sound.

I added ditchlights to mine and also added weight and this improved pulling power.

Bought Pinecar weights at Hobby Lobby put them in the cab, over the motor, and under the radiator.

@Trek2539 Cool. The only thing about the CSX version is that it doesn't have the GPS antenna dome. But i love the paint scheme on that version. #579 right?

I love the Athearn ready to run compared to the old blue box. Better detail and they also run better. I had a bunch of blue box and sold it for Genesis eingines.

@Trek2539 Cool. I wish it was #570. That engine was the lead unit in the CSX Central Ave. derailment...lol How much did you pay for yours?

Maybe I'm wrong, but I think the lights are small incandescent bulbs

i understand it was a poor quality engine but the humming noise only was noticeable on ballasted rails cuz when it went on the bridge (which was nice btw) the noise wasnt noticeable in my opinion im not a hater or troll.

Forgot to mention It would of been nice if the ditch lights worked.

Try a tcs decoder. I use those because they are really nice at a good price.

How many pins is the decoder? And I believe there are (at least now) sound decoders available as well.
