This Needs to be Said #NotAlone

This was the most difficult video I've ever released. I'm putting myself out there in hopes that it helps somebody know... that it helps YOU know... that you are #NotAlone.

Guys when I release videos talking about mental health, I get an enormous amount of messages, emails, and other communications regarding issues that are best discussed with a licensed therapist. As much as love this community and desire to help, I'm just a dude, struggling like a lot of us do, and have a hard enough time handling my own issues. I wish that I could help every person who sends a message individually, but it does get overwhelming and in the past has been pretty gnarly for my own mental well being to try and play therapist to hundreds of awesome folks when I have literally no idea what I'm doing in that area. If you need help, I encourage you to seek counseling from an awesome therapist, and see a psychiatrist if you think meds might help you function better. (Not just a doctor/ family practitioner, but a legit psychiatrist) It might take a few tries to get a therapist/psychiatrist who you jive with, but I promise, when you find the right therapist it makes a world of difference and can save your life. Also, insurance lately has been way better at helping with psychiatry and therapy. My current insurance covers almost the whole bill, and both psychiatry, meds, and therapy end up costing about $20-$30 a month and it has been 100% worth every penny. I still have a long way to go, but I have more hope now than I've had in a long time.

If you or someone you know is in an emergency, call 911 immediately.
If you are in crisis or are experiencing difficult or suicidal thoughts, call the National Suicide Hotline at 1-800-273 TALK (8255)
If you’re uncomfortable talking on the phone, you can also text NAMI to 741-741 to be connected to a free, trained crisis counselor on the Crisis Text Line.

So true Tyler, there's light at the end of the tunnel, but often then it's back into the tunnel again... and as you say sometimes all you can do it just hang in there, hoping the light is on its way. You certainly aren't alone, I have friends struggling as you are, and I see how hard it can be. In the first world we have had it so good, for so long, it's easy to assume that happiness is our birthright. But of course history shows how brutal life can be... whether it's poverty, war or the neurotransmitters in our brain beating ourselves up! I'm glad you can still see what you need to do... just hanging in there. Remembering it will get better, even though that seems impossible. Focusing on the really important things like your family. And talking about it, not keeping it all inside. You are not alone!

Jees Tyler - that is one of the best most powerful videos I have ever seen on YouTube. I have huge admiration for you for putting this out there, incredible stuff. I have no words that can help you I'm afraid other than to heed your own advice and hang in there as those around you need you....I need you! I'm so sorry you and your family are going through love from across the pond - ride safe buddy.

Have you heard about the Access Center here in St George? I hope you come see us there when you're in crisis and feeling suicidal. We take walk-ins 24/7, and you can meet with a crisis worker and psychiatrist, and we can keep you safe. Keep fighting the good fight, you have a lot of people who love and need you!

I’m an unemotional normal guy but you opened my eyes to reality. I love your channel so you better hang in there and keep those videos coming. That’s an order from a brother who’s been following you right from the time you quit teaching and started riding. You’re a fighter and I’m sure this too shall pass. I live right across the globe, in India but riding with you is on my bucket list and you better not disappoint me.

It's all too easy to feel like we are alone when it comes to these issues.
I needed to hear this now more than you could ever know.
Thanks.

I never comment on videos. However I just want to reach out to you and let you know how powerful your honesty is. You, my friend, are making such a difference. I will be sharing this with people I care about. Thank you Tyler.

"I wouldn't want to go on a motorcycle tour with a crazy person". Welll, I don't know about that but would I go on a tour with a man who's shown the courage and integrity you've just put on very public display? In a bloody heartbeat. Strength and best wishes to you, Tyler. One day when this virus thing settles down I hope I'll have the privilege of riding with you in eveRide-land.

You're right, hearing this isn't comfortable
Neither is sharing it
Seeing someone suffer when you haven't a clue how to help, brings out avoidant behavior in people, which is sad
All I can do is listen, and let you know that I care
I'm glad you're still with us, I'm glad that you trust us enough to share this with us, and I fervently hope things get better for you

Dude, I went through the same. No doctor nor medicine could cure my illness. Try one thing: RUNNING. Running is the best medicine for mental illness. Not biking, not walking, not tennis, not swimming, not any other sport. Running. You can start slow. Speed is not the goal. Distance is. Develop your running program and schedule.

30 Years ago I failed at my attempt to crash my bike at full highway speed. I don't know how but I only broke my leg. by chance I spent time in the hospital room with a man with bone cancer he was also a therapist. it saved my life and I got the help I needed. I don't know if he survived but THANK YOU... please if you need help get it, your loved ones will be thankful.

God bless you, eff the sponsors! I’d ride with you any day of the week. I am a nurse & FAR more people struggle with mental health than they will admit. Peace brother. I’m in western Colorado & here for you any time.

That took a lot of courage to put out there. Thank you. You are not alone, either. Stay strong and keep pushing through. It’s not easy, but you have a lot of supporters out here and I’ll bet this video gained you even more. Don’t give up!
