Oh my god I just had an incredible DnD character idea. A character who's just a swarm of bees in a cloak, who's a warlock/paladin and their god is just... their bee keeper.

This is better than the analogy I had from the human perspective of the bee keeper being a landlord and taking taxes. Being an eldritch god to them, one that moves and tends to trees and builds new towns when it is time is great.

Just going to quickly add that when bees swarm, it's actually the original queen who leaves and the new queen stays

The new queen will replace the old which keeps the existing hive alive in the long term, and the old queen who already proved herself at getting a hive going once will be the one doing it again. This maximizes the odds that both the old hive will survive after the swarm and that the bees who leave will successfully start a new hive
