My issue is none of these, and VLC player does not have the options I need. I use windows app "Movies and TV" as I can advance frame by frame and take a "photo" of the frame I want. I cannot do this with files on my 2T USB SSD, but if I copy the file to my hard drive - it works OK

I had the same issue, when I exported the video with the Canon Utility software and that worked. Oddly, two videos on each camera had this issue, and they were the same scenes of an interview that I did. I don't know how that happened. Two cameras, and 2 our of 8 same scenes but different angles on each camera were messed up. WTH!
