I'm American and I was in russia for vacation. Honestly, it's a great country. I felt totally safe and had a lot of fun. Russians actually like Americans, despite what the propaganda machine says. A lot of them want to practice their english and have a lot of interest in traveling to the US and to other countries. In fact, I think Russians are probably the friendliest nationality I've met so far from my years of travel. Also, no need to worry about racism, everybody. I'm of Japanese ethnicity and was treated with a lot of kindness and respect. Moscow and St Petersburg are gorgeous cities. I often walked around the city way past midnight and felt fine. There's a lot to see and do. I am very disgusted by the way my fellow americans and other non-russians act when they hear about russia. It's definitely not some third world country without cars or food or education. Everybody needs to be a little bit more mature and not act so xenophobic. Good and bad people exist in every country, and the politics of a nation generally have little bearing on how others act. There is very little crime and most Russians drink tea instead of vodka :D People need to educate themselves and not be so paranoid. Cheers!

Ok, I guess it's time to reveal real Russia. As I'm russian I can tell you about real facts.
1) Russia is not the most alcoholical country (the most one is located in Europe)
2) No, we don't want to attack your country, to kill you or to set a bear on you (it's false)
3) We are actually friendly people, yes we seem to be unsmiling with people who we don't know, but if a person becomes our friend, we will always help him/her and will do our best for them.
4) No, Putin is not a dictator! We don't have totalitarianism. We live under capitalism just like other countries.
5) No, Putin didn't kill anyone in Crimea and didn't force anyone to vote to join Russia (I have talked to many Crimea people here).
6) Many of "we love russia" compilation videos are not even Russian at all (that's fact).
7) No, we don't drink vodka during the lunch, and during the breakfast, supper, etc (I mean in common by statistics)
8) There are no bears walking on the streets in Russia (at least I have never seen any of them, I wish I could see one).
9) Siberia actually is the safest place in the world (If the Global warming affects our planet, Siberia will stay mostly in safe.)
10) And yes, I'm gonna repeat it again. We are not a threat for your country, we are not gonna bomb you, etc. All what you can hear is just propaganda between two biggest countries.

They forgot to mention, that Russians were the first in the space: sputnik and Gagarin. Or that Russians discovered Antarctica and the another 1/6 part of our planet. As for legendary "matryoshka" - it appeared just 120 years ago and the idea came from one Japanese toy ( in the end of XIX the Japanese fashion spread in the whole world).
