Pipper Laurie and Sissy Spacek were phenomenal in these roles. Too bad they didn't get Oscars, although they were nominated.

THIS is where this movie’s true horror is. Have no doubt that real children suffer through real abuse like this and the real monsters are human. Carrie’s mother is probably one of the most frightening horrors Stephen King created.

You need to remember that these two actresses were epic in their performances. Two of the all time great (and powerfully disturbing) mother daughter roles in movie history.

Sheesh Carrie gets tortured by the girls at school and the teachers don't give a shit (except for the gym teacher) and goes him and gets tortured there. The only people that was nice to her are Tommy Ross, the gym teacher, and Sue.

how many of you, who grew up in the 70's, can actually relate to a crazy I am having flashbacks to my mom trying to tell me that her perception was my perception. She would not let me feel my own feelings. Carrie's narcissistic mother says it's best with, "don't you know I can see inside you?!" Never let anyone tell you what you are thinking...no matter how close. Say, "that's what you think and that is interesting". Just string these narcs along. or go no contact and save yourself. DO IT. I did.

In the remake Juliane Moore had turned the into something other than Piper Laurie version of her character and completely wrecked her. Piper Laurie is the best religious bitch ever no one can play her.
