Morning, it's July 29th, and today we're harvesting our Leela Luang purple carrots, grown entirely in potting mix. These unique European carrots were planted back in May, and now it's time to see how they turned out. Join us as we pull out the carrots, discuss their growth, and share our thoughts on this striking variety. We'll also talk about why some carrots forked in the light potting mix and compare the purple and orange hues of the harvested carrots. Stick around as we cut one open to review its flavor and nutritional value!

Carrots & Parsnips grow well in my Michigan zone 6A garden (30 gallon grow bags) but they take a long time to get nice & big. I sow them in early April, and start harvesting the end of October through early December. The Lunar White & black nebula varieties do grow faster & they tend to bolt the 1st year if I leave them in the ground too late into the season.

I’ve been waiting for this harvest. ❤❤❤ Save the carrot tops for Pesto, for soups and salads.

I'm planting mines tomorrow as a fall crop. Hopefully the cooler temperatures sweeten them up.
