A close associate of mine studied under Mearsheimer at the University of Chicago in the late 1980s... Im Jewish my associate is Jewish. Theres no question that Mearsheimer is an antisemite ..he was in the 80s and is should have dismantled Mearsheimer's premise that Gaza is an "open air prison". Piers then should have then unpacked the Egyptian relationship with Gaza and the Egyptian border with Gaza. From there Piers could have nuked Mearsheimers argument.

"Gaza is an open air prison" was first used to describe the Gaza Strip in 1994 when Arafat took it over (Oslo Accords.) He set up checkpoints all over the autonomy areas for Arabs and began to control their lives as he did in Lebanon. It was later used to bash Israel. When Hamas took over they did the same thing. This was how the Gazans were able to expose and Israeli special forces operating in Gaza (to replace a battery on a listening device.) The truck they were in was stopped by a checkpoint. Notice the Hamas or PLO checkpoints did not "bring people to suicide bombing acts."
