I figured it out, I thinks the add boardingpass to google wallet feature is only for Pixel 3 and above. So what you do is take a screenshot with volume down and power button simultaneously. And then there will be a notification bottom left of the screen which says "Add to wallet".

Okay video but not all companies will email you boarding pass so this is broken. Delta doesn't send boarding passes by e-mail. They are in the app
