Galactic Renaissance Review | Matagot's New Masterpiece?

Years ago, Matagot released Inis, a fantastic board game with card drafting, area control, and stunning artwork. Inis was designed by Christian Martinez, and now Matagot and Mr. Martinez are BACK with a brand new box—Galactic Renaissance.

Galactic Renaissance shares some ideas with Inis, so it feels like one massive question hangs over this game: is there any point to owning both?

I've got an answer.

Chapters:
Intro: 0:00
Premise: 0:19
How to Play: 1:36
Positives: 9:37
Negatives: 13:13
Positives Part 2: 16:42
Final Thoughts: 18:48

In case you're wondering, I selected the "this video contains paid promotion" option on YouTube because the game was sent to me free of charge. Matagot did not pay me for this review.

Just sticking this here because I neglected to shout him out in the video: Galactic Renaissance's artwork is by Tano Bonfanti! Crazy talented dude.

This review (format and jokes etc.) feels like it could live on classic SU&SD. Never came across another review that made me feel that. Well done. I think we need a crossover episode now.

Your stuff is really next level, man. Only you could get me to watch a review for a game I have no interest in and keep it entertaining every second. Great job!

you deserve more views! And I didn't back the KS for this game because everyone was saying the game is basically Inis but in space. After watching your review, I think i'll purchase it when the late pledge opens for Kemet: Rise of the Gods

This review was so funny and yet explained everything nicely, I rarely sub within the first 5 minutes of a video, but here I do! ;)

"Have some pink ears" is a minor tradeoff for "create random portals that may or may not do anything but at least they look cool floating there" powers. That being said, if, as the Outer Space Jackalope you might be, you have to appear every time a person opens up Galactic Renaissance, you may not have time to enjoy your portal-making.

In before making a portal takes a month off your lifespan or something like that.

The deck cycling back is interesting, feel like I haven't seen that since Aeon's End except for Flesh and Blood.
In terms of art I guess I just don't see the appeal. To me this seems ugly compared to Inis but glad it's not a turnoff for you.
