Hallo Lukas,
Dein Festool Team

It’s funny, when I watch your newest video I always say that this was your best one so far. But this was a gamechanger. I loved the animations while zinc plating and all of the love you gave this tool.
You’re a freak, and I love you like that! Keep on going please! ❤️

Disclaimer: I was kindly informed that the saw blade seems to be mounted the wrong way around. Very good eye and I missed this detail during video editing. However, the saw blade is mounted the right way around. At first I also thought that the saw was turning the wrong way around, i.e. that I had wired the motor incorrectly. When I frantically ran back to my workshop to check it, the saw turned the right way around.

And then I realized what had happened. And here is the explanation:
The shutter speed of the camera and the rotation speed of the saw blade are overlapping in such a way that the camera always takes a picture when the saw has almost made another rotation. If you line up these pictures in a video like usual, it looks as if the saw is rotating in the wrong direction. You know this effect for example from car commercials where the wheels seem to turn backwards when driving forward or in videos of old propeller planes where the rotor seems to turn slowly in the wrong direction.

There are countless explanatory videos on youtube, if you want to learn more about this.

I wish you all a good start into the new year and hope you will tune in again for the next video.

4:05 - "oh no, I dropped it and it fell apart". I love these comedy edits, including the marching stop-motion parts from time to time.

Knowing nothing of tools, I watch your channel because you take the time to explain what you are doing and why. Your visuals are marvelous and humor is appreciated. This tool looks like it should be in a show room...just a lovely result.

A year later, and this remains one of the best restoration videos of all time.

Between the creative vision, the talented restoration, the careful explanations, and the stellar editing, I keep getting drawn back to this video time and time again.

Really nice restoration! Just one point - the Festo tool company (Festool) usually has the green color, like the original lettering of the hand saw. The blue is the Festo color for the pneumatics company.

Tools make me ridiculously happy. I used to buy old tools at yard sales & thrift stores. Those were some of the best purchases I have ever made. Old tools were made to a higher standard of quality. Yeah, I like the newest gadgets & gizmos but old tools are what really makes me happy. I almost feel a weird type of connection or continuity between me & the tool's previous owners. Woo-Hoo! 😁

I love the bright blue color and the polished bits with this saw. It definitely looks like a power tool from the 60s. Nicely done!

I am running out of adjectives to describe your work...how does "stellar" sound? Every time I see one of these tool videos it reminds me of some of my dad's old tools I just threw out when he passed. He had an old metal Craftsman skill saw he used for years to cut brick - he was a mason. It was still working some 30+ years later and deserved something like this. Oh well can't undo what was done. But it did make this one pretty special for me. Thanks for that.
