The baby tossing in "Airplane" is totally on-brand and doesn't ruin anything :D

Depending on the audio recording technique, they might have asked the extras with brooms to only pretend to sweep the floor, but not actually touching the ground as the sound of the bristles could've been picked up by the microphone and ruined the audio

I remember the woman throwing the “baby” in the Airplane scene. I always assumed it was intentional, just another comic event in the movie. 🤷

There is reason why extras try to sneak in lines. If they are heard talking in final cut, they get actor credit in movie. Not just extra.

Given the nature of the movie "Airplane" i doubt that the woman throwing away her baby was a blooper.

Witnessed it 1st had on K-19 The Widowmaker, top of the sub in the loading scene, some bozo on set wouldn't stop looking into the camera, ruined every take, eventually we had to remove him from set and by then it was dark and the shot was lost, so the moron looking into the camera stayed.
