I've actually picked True Polymorph as one of my Arcanums while playing a warlock. I then used our party's downtime to go into the forest and turn myself into a gold dragon permanently. Gold dragon can polymorph on command, so my character's human form became his disguise at a cost of further level progression, but who needs it? This is basically level 20 Druid rules but with your primary form being a dragon!

Yeah, basically the campaign didn't last long after that. Our next campaign in this world features my character as a regent of The Human Empire. No one in my current party knows he's my previous character and secretly a dragon.

You could just play a dragon that's stuck as a human due to their shape shift and then you can do shit like true polymorph

As discussed in your other video, it is only until dispelled. But if you cast clone after the true polymorph is permanent, then you actually will be once you have entered the clone body

True Polymorph can still be dispelled though. The TRUE way to become a dragon is to cast true polymorph, then cast Clone while polymorphed, wait for the process to complete, then die. You will then be put into the body of a dragon which cannot be dispelled in any way.

true polymorph can be dispelled, but in theory if you used clone to grow a new body after casting true polymorph and then killed yourself it would be truly permanent. your mileage may vary depending on dm of course

I think there was a way to make it even more way to become a dragon. It's been a while since I saw it but I think you true polymorphy yourself, clone yourself (so you make a true dragon clone), and then swap souls. Thus making you a true dragon that can't be dispelled back into a person. I believe anyway. As I said it's been a while lol.

Another ADVANCED way to get dragon stats is too,

1. Use Nystul’s magic aura to change a subdued* dragons type into humanoid for the purposes of spells.

(*reduce a dragon to 0 from a melee weapon attack to knock it out, then have some hirelings continue knocking it out to prevent it from taking a LR/SR)

2. Use Magic Jar to go into a gem and attempt to possess the humanoid dragon (repeat steps 1 and 2 in 24 hours if the dragon succeeds its saving throw)

3. Be dragon

Also magic jar can put you in a dragons body permanently, and since it’s not a spell effect it can’t be dispelled
Also it’s a sixth level spell, which you get way earlier
The only downside is that it only works in humanoids, so either you have to do it on a mettalic dragon who is in humanoid form, or you need to true polymorph a dragon into a human, use magic jar, and drop concentration on true polymorph
