Find a right angle in the room . Measure both legs, make marks. Then measure the in-between. Basically you make a triangle. Way easier than the qudradric formula .

I don’t need no damn computer to do piping, tape measure, plum Bob, yard stuck and a 6’ level, calipers, string and a calculator is all I need. Too much technology is not a good thing
