I raised a Raven two summers ago. She chose to stay around and is never caged, clipped or tethered. Comes up to me and puts her head down so I can preen areas she can't reach. Reminder! Only do this if the feather is ready! Some birds have trouble getting the casing off. So you can gently crack and slide it off like this creator did!

I have a umbrella cockatoo named pogey that loves when I do this for her. She will wait for me to be done, attempt to help clean off her debri, then usually right after plays with my hair and styles it. I believe she is trying to preen me as well lol its so sweet

That was so satisfying! I don’t think I’ve ever seen one that long come off so smoothly. I used to rescue and rehab exotic birds and preening their feathers was one of the ways I was able to bond with them, and I thought the ones I got off were long 😅❤️
