One contributing factor, at least in Sweden, is that schools adopted the philosophy of New Public Management; simply put, schools are to be structured as companies and compete against each other through grades. Having this incentive schools no longer prioritize learning but focus on setting inaccurate grades to compete with other schools that are controlled by various companies whose sole sole goals is making profits.

right but a huge part of the issue is the wealth gap. how can we find alternatives in a world where everything costs a fortune. simply knowing there is an issue is just a start - not the solution. but is we this is just marketing because people care more about making a buck than changing things.
