To kick higher you need flexible and strong muscles. Just train with weights on legs like Rock Lee does. Month later you'll kick on the head height with ease!

Yes! So many people get this wrong, they think that leaning more is "cheating" (which it's not it's legitimately what you're supposed to be doing, especially if you're like most men who do not have wide hips.)

Good for height but horrible for power. For point sparring this is very useful since you also get distance from your opponent along with height.

Important to note the techniques shown here belong to Karate Shiai (Karate for tournaments) and should not be seen as applicable for self defense which focus on speed of delivery + contraction & a mixture of simple hand & foot techniques which are easily executed but can wreak havoc on an opponent
(like kumade uchi = bear-hand-strike to the face)

Excessive leaning back will result in a higher chance in you loosing balance especially spinning hook kick.

Hey Nat, is there a way so your hips don't hurt after you pass hip height? Like I can kick head height but when I try and hold my kick up it hurts my hip. Any tips?
