Kaiweets KTI-W01 Infrared Thermal Camera Review

I take a look at the Kaiweets KTI-W01 Thermal Imaging Camera and compare it to my Uni-T UTi260B, both cameras have similar IR specifications, they are both 256*192 IR resolution.

I live in FL. USA. I googled Kaiweets KTI-W01 Macro lens and found a 3D file for a lens holder for free. A 3d printing service site called Xometry had an instant quote for $17.62 after tax and free shipping so I just ordered one. I just had to upload that free 3D file and they say it will be complete in 2 days and shipped out. I just have to order the actual lens that fits in the holder and should be good. Hope this helps anyone looking for a macro lens attachment.

There's a setting called 'measurement parameter' where you set the mean distance of the object your are looking at. This is required because IR radiation attentuates in temperature with distance and so setting this parameter compensates the temperature readout. On the TopDon TC004 (almost identical to the Uni-T) it's on the settings menu. I have mine set to the minimum 250mm for electronics work.

Look for a decent blackbody calibration source to check these with, and from what I've seen, you can get one pretty cheap online. You can use that as a standard to calibrate the temperature and compare different cameras with.

I had one of these 6 months ago. The IR camera works reasonably well. Unfortunately there is not a removable SD card. I ended up returning mine because the fit and finish the choice of plastics and the choice of color made it look like a toy. (Cheap and nasty) Even though it worked well I was laughed out of the office. Some better plastics better fit and finish and a lens that is bigger than a pinpoint would help the credibility of the unit. For now until they come out with a second gen and correct some of the issues listed I'll pass. If they would have put as much effort into the construction of the case as they did behind the box that came in (and you will likely throw away) it would be a much more professional looking unit.

looks pretty decent huge screen Yeah it’s crazy with the infrared cameras for some reason they can’t be too high of a resolution here in USA something to do with military they don’t want people having high resolution or safety who really knows lol I’m thinking about modifying ifRay camera to my drone that thing has high resolution the infrared

I don't put much value in the printed manuals these days.

I receive them with products and they just end up in either the recycle bin or the manuals drawer never to be looked at ever again.

In my view, if the product needs a manual to use it, then the product is not user friendly, I'm more happier just going online and downloading an electronic copy of it.

At 42yrs of age, I'm basically over having to store extra crap I'll never use.
