“Leave Me Alone” is probably one of the most personal songs I’ve ever written. I cried the first time playing it through when I wrote it back in 2020. My mom is my best friend, and I quite literally don’t think I could function without her. I went through the typical teenage stage where I thought I was capable of being independent and doubted her advice. As I got older, I realized just how much I need her love, guidance and wisdom. I wasn’t sure what project this song would fit on, but I wanted to share it here with y’all because it’s so special to me. I love you, mom. I know grandma is watching over us. Happy Mother’s Day ❤️

XO,
Megan

Lyrics:

I was 15 when you yelled at me
I said some things back that I didn’t mean
I think I was going somewhere
With some people that you had never seen
I swore I knew it all
When I threw my phone against that wall

I said mama just leave me alone
I get its a big world and you care but let me go
I can do this on my own
Your little girl is all grown up
So mama leave me alone

It was my second year of college
And I couldn't stop calling
Cause you had answers to everything
And I couldn't work that washing machine
I guess you always knew it all
You made my problems seem so small

Mama you ain’t gotta leave me alone
Its a big world I know now don't let me go
I can't do this on my own
Your little girl ain't so grown up
And you ain't gotta leave me alone

I remember when I first noticed
Your hair was turning grey
It stopped me in my tracks
Cause things can't always stay this way

Mama don't leave me here alone
In this big world
Without you it would just be cold
One day I'm gonna have to do this on my own
Your little girl, I’ll always be
Mama don't leave me alone
Please don't leave me here alone
