Learn how to create new users on Linux (and how to remove Linux users). This video gives you a quick rundown of basic Linux commands like useradd, userdel, and usermod.

As a bonus, you'll learn what actually happens behind the scenes when a new user is created in Linux. We'll look at /etc/passwd, /etc/shadow, /etc/group, and a bunch of other things you might have been too scared to look at until now.

Hi TutorialLinux,
Thanks for your incredible work.
Please, I would like to know if we must disable or delete the other services accounts listed in /etc/passwd (which are considered as open doors) ?
Thanks !

Very impressive video. I've worked for companies on and off for many years who add employees and I
have always been curious on how it works out. You're only reference to it corresponding to a company type situation is where you mention you delete the user when the employee quits surprised me.

This has been going on for tutorial after tutorial where no reference is made to real scenario so the
entire vision of what you are doing is lost to those who would learn quicker by scenario.

I have faced this same dilemma where I when I teach a mathematical equation to understand it properly
I show what it is actually used for in the the field. This results in a concentrated thought form where the theory of the equation is balanced by the pragmatic use of it.

First comes the lecture on the equation and then the explanation of the equation. For example, I might give lecture to students on the equations of deceleration and acceleration. The general theory is to explain that you cannot go any faster in space than you have fuel to slow down. I then begin the standard equations to show fuel consumption where the craft is delegated a speed where it can return to base without compromise.

Now, your video is very well done and I admit I did not know that you could delegate to a new employee a default shell. This is something that I found valuable and will be using from now on.

Again, I give you my sincere compliments. I enjoyed this video very much.

As I stated in a previous message to you I enjoy getting all the software in Debian. I think in terms of
downloading free what would cost me thousands of dollars.
