Socks how to choose the right sock for your foot

Socks you need them to keep your feet warm and there are many varieties. Boot socks for people wearing boots even compression socks for those of you with poor circulation. There are merino wool socks or possum and merino socks for beautifully lite, comfortable and warm so really there is no excuse not to protect your feet from the inside of your boot.
Did you know quite a few years ago like when socks were first made, socks were made from leather or matted animal hair which would not have been as comfortable as todays socks. But even in the 1500s they started making machine knitted socks and what an improvement. This added to the variety available and the colours making socks more of a fashion item. They were still hand made as well but after the 1800s handknitting went out the window in favour or machine made socks. These days socks are all machine made and are manufactured from all sorts of fibres using technology to make them more comfortable and affordable.
Feet sweet up to a quarter of a pint each day (gross and wet shoes) so luckily socks are great at absorbing perspiration so what a match. You know when you have worked hard when you take your socks out of your boots, walk around and you leave those big sloppy foot prints on hard floors. In the cold Wool socks can’t be beaten for lowering the risk of frost bite by keeping a insulating layer between your feet and boots . These days socks are made from finer fibres such as merino and even possum fibre for the ultimate light warm sock.
