As a weather enthusiast: Those clouds are actually not dangerous at all (or sometimes they can) it's nothing to really panic about but sometimes it is. They're usually called Cumulonimbus clouds, which are also known as thunderstorms, are associated with extreme weather events, including: heavy rain, hail, lightning, thunder, and strong winds you are right about the moist thing but also they can form an unstable air passes over higher terrain, such as a mountain range or ridge line. They be associated with tornadoes, but that means they'll have to be a cloud called Nimbostratus which is a low hanging cloud, altitude from 2, 000 to 18, 000 ft. To spot a Cumulonimbus look for these characteristics: Dark, thick clouds, like 'puffy' clouds!
