This is a visit to a Tandoory bread bakery in Boro Park, Brooklyn.

It was one of my first videos filmed and I never published it because I didn’t like that the food wasn’t clearly enough seen. Today I’m sharing it anyway in hopes I’ll return one day for a proper look at the food.

This is Moshe’s Tandoory. This is their google listing:

Ha - ha ))) I’m Hasidic, my husband is Bukharian. I know Yiddish, he knows Farsi. But we use Russian. It’s a big Jewish population with Soviet Union background. Huge hug 🤗 from New York, Frieda!

A star is born. Our Frieda. I had no idea this group existed. Loved seeing those old ovens. There is nothing like history, especially edible history.

I’m so glad you published the video now. There is such a big culinary/ethnic world out there, and you bring that world to your viewers like me! (You are a natural with these videos 😊)

A charming, informative early effort by our guide Frieda giving a blik at the Tandoory bread bakery of Bukharian Jews in Boro Park. I loved when the baker explained the oven and how he has to cool the bricks by pouring water on them! Nice to enjoy all the foods that are delicious in the Jewish world. Shkoyakh!

Thx for “getting around” to publishing this unique video. Frieda, you never disappoint with your content. I did not know about this ethnicity of Jews, how they came out of the Babylonian exile period and they ended up where they did. Fascinating!

This was one of your first videos? It was a excellent effort. Do you know why? Because, like all of them even your later smoothly polished edited videos, it was evident that you were pleased to share a little unknown yet remarkable place that you have found. It is that simple. That makes it all the more enjoyable to become a part of as a viewer. :-)

What a beautiful, interesting, warm moment you have given us, Frieda.
How wonderful to have kept the Faith and the customs for thousands of years. Thank you very much, from Chile.

I don't think I ever heard of Bukarian Jews until recently. You and someone who commented mentioned restaurants. That might make an interesting video. When I went to visit friends in NJ, they took me to an Afghani restaurant, their food was wonderful, and I was amazed at their hospitality.

There's a Jewish YouTuber "sonyapreps" and she's a bucharian jew. I really see how some of her food is more similar to sephardic culture and other food typically Russian. Most her uploads involve cuisine and it all looks fabulous!! Not that it's typically bucharian but I use her zebra cookies recipe for shabbos and they always come out amazing. So special to follow these ladies from afar and learn so much from them. Love both freida's and sonya's videos.
Thank you freida for these wonderful videoes!!

Nice to see you venture out into other Jewish communities. There's so much Jewish diversity in NY. I love Bukharian food, I always look for it whenever I go somewhere where they have a community. The long hair looked lovely! 😊

Please do return and give us an up to date. This is from 12 years ago? Doubtless you've learned a lot since then not only about presentation and how to convey their story.

I would love to see a documentary on these kind of Jews.

That was an informative treat. I don’t live in NYC, but I’ve been to Borough/Boro Park a couple of times with my adult children. TFS 💙

One of the first? You came into this with a natural talent, then! I'm not surprised. Your explanation skills have definitely expanded with experience. A couple of times in this I had a question that you didn't answer, but in all of your recent videos, for many months, you seem to anticipate what outsiders are thinking/wondering and include it.

It's your unique, down-to-earth way that makes all your videos so great, even you first video. Often, we just see very styled and sometimes a little over-the-top women on TV or PC, and that's completely fine. But it's just so good to have grounded, natural reporting as well. It calms you down, and it's so interesting to learn about the businesses of Jewish people and their backgrounds and stories. Thanks, Frieda, as always, and much love from a German Christian to all my Jewish friends. Stay strong.
