There was a 6 second eclipse, converted to rwd, huge single turbo, almost what, staggering 100psi of boost, look up Brent Rau from Magnus Motorsports.
I also remembered, there was another 6 second, 4 cylinders, front wheel drive and it wasn't a mitsu, I can't exactly remember, I believe it ran 6.4 sec or something like that.

The fastest 4 cylinder is an ecotec engine in the 5s. Still though, didn't know how fast the 4Gs were.

I just want to clarify that the 2nd Gen Eclipses are not all 4g. The GS and RS have a 2.0l 420a engine that makes 140hp. You can technically swap a 4g into them but the fabrication and the engine and parts would cost more and be such a pain to fit in that it would literally be better to just buy a GSX

I had a 2GB car with a built 6 bolt 4G63 in it. 4 bolt rear end and an FP green. Thing was a street nightmare back in the day.

I loved my 95 Eclipse, I kept it pristine but the frame rotted out on a car that never saw rain or snow. I sold it and bought a 2005 Evolution SSL and baby it even more, only 76 thousand miles

It all depends on what you’re going for and what you have to work with. Maybe im just thinking into it too deep. If I got access to an old Honda coupe, makes more sense to slap a k20 in it, same if I had an evo

The fastest 1/4 mile pass out of a 4 cylinder car was and will remain an Ecotec. 4g63s are better out of the box but a built Ecotec smashes a DSM out of the park all day long
