Unidentified dolphin from the Navy Marine Mammal Program – DAY 9 OF 16 IN MEDICAL PEN. In this clip the vets, researchers, interns and externs have performed every type of critical care on a dolphin past saving, beached this day from 08:41-09:42. Note the resources required for this one animal, while the rest of the dock is virtually empty and the needs of other dolphins are being ignored, as they "beach to teach". This is an extraordinary amount of time and dead weight on lungs and internal organs on an animal born to zero gravity. The amount of time beached should be as short as possible, multiple therapeutics by trained personnel working simultaneously. This is not possible when the Navy is using animals to teach people. What is the Department of Defense Directive on compassionate euthanasia, purported to exceed the standard beyond the requirement of any other regulatory organization? This is not living, it is dying.
