Boss GT-1000 - How To Eq For Different Guitars Pt.1 Humbuckers

preview_player
Показать описание
In this video, we look at how to eq the input of your amp modeler to get the best out of other guitars. We look at a patch that was created with single coils to be able to play with humbuckers. The Studio Rats are core band members Paul Drew on guitar/production/mixing, drummer James Ivey and Dan Hawkins on bass. They collaborate with singers and musicians to produce radio-ready songs.

So helpful! Thank you! Would love more vids like this!..If I may make a request, a vid on how to set up the Boss GT1000 Core as a "clean pedal platform" amp, where all the drive would come from other OD/Distortion pedals like the RevivalDrive.

another GREAT vid. thanks!

curious. i'm not familar with the PRS pickup switch. you have it in the 'up' position. is that bridge or neck? Also, do you happen to know how your PRS would compare to a 1990 Les Paul Studio vis a vis your recommendations?

TIA!

Great example of why a Telecaster almost always gets the job. My PRS humbuckers always benefit from sharp cuts in the lo mid 260-320 and right at 3.1. The wide boost at 4 really helps open up the voicing, in my case even keeping the cut at 3.1, which to my ears always sounds like it needs to be controlled (rebalance for lo mid cuts) but especially with darker humbuckers. I hadn't been boosting at 4k before this video and it's such an obvious step to take, guess I've been guilty of fixating on the frequencies I know gotta go. It's very handy to restore voicing when cuts over the 2.5-2.6 are necessary, depending on the eq and its curve.

As always, excellent insight presented in a working environment. Stay safe and well man ✌️ 🎶 🎶

My telecaster with Texas specials always sounds the best compared to humbuckers but still would like a some rock break up tone to add like a cranked humbucker, any eq settings for that🤔

Would this work for a live setting? I've got a GT1000 and never had a good tone with it. I'm 100% positive that it's not the unit, it's a great piece of gear. It's my lack of understanding. Another guitarplayer who works in the band plays on single coils. Of course, his guitar cuts through the mix perfectly well compared to my humbucker superstrat. I'll try to EQ my sound in the fashion you've mentioned here. Thx! I guess, I'll also have to use some parametric EQ after the amp and cut some low end and boost mids?

You mentioned not boosting between 1 and 2khz, I find a lot of djent players boost exactly in those ranges. I'm not a djent fan myself, but have noticed that's how they get that sound.

Great Paul..!!
If i use humbuckers at the size of single (for ex seymur duncan little59), is it ok to fix it like the way you do;

Without the EQ, the PRS is much more complex compared to the Tele. Since I am not a recording artist, I am not good at deciding what does and doesn’t work in a mix. As a stand alone instrument or in a small band setting I much prefer the original PRS sound.
