The Density Column

preview_player
Показать описание
If liquids of varying densities are placed in a graduated cylinder they will form layers, with the greatest density liquids at the bottom and the lesser density liquids at the top. This density column is formed formed with corn syrup (colored red), glycerin (colored green), water (colored blue) and oil. The densities for each of these liquids are provided after showing the formation of the density column.

Suggestions for teachers to use this video might be to play this video until all the liquids have been poured but before the density values are shown. Ask students what they think the relative densities of the liquids might be. Then continue to play the video to show the actual densities of the liquids.
