When I read in guitar world as a kid that Laihos mom let him stay home from school to practice guitar for 8 hours a day, I begged my mom to let me do the same.
Needless to say she didn’t let me. But I was absolutely enamored by him.
RIP to an underrated legend. Gone too soon.

It's so sad Alexi didn't quit alcohol at all. He was on point during those performances. He started to drink once again in 2016.

The amazing fact about this performance is that Laiho, obviously knowing the state of his health and sensing his future, plays everything (compared to his many other live performances) crystal clear. Considering his depression and addictions to drugs/alcohol, that's something only legends can do, driven by the will to leave something worthy behind.
