I've been commuting to that courthouse via subway for 20 years, as I am a file clerk at a law firm about 15 minutes away. Every time I go over there, they act like Secret Service. You have to check in your cellphone upon entrance. Understandable. However, one day when I didn't feel like waiting on the line to check in my phone (since I had time-sensitive documents), I went about my business. About five minutes later as I was on my way out the building, one of the guards (who was somehow aware that I never checked in my phone) rushed over to me, as if he was about to pin me to the ground like Ice Cube in "Are We There Yet?" when a weapon was found in his pocket at the airport. He reacted as if I kicked his dog, "Don't you ever pull that stunt again" or something to that effect. Another time (after hours when the courthouse was closed), I came there at about 10 p.m. to drop some documents through the 24-hour dropbox. According to the paralegal at my job, I had to stamp the front page of each stack of documents (using the automatic stamp machine which specifies the date/time, located above the dropbox) before dropping them in there. The guard kept pacing back and forth while directly behind me (practically suffocating me, as if I was a potential terrorist) while I was stamping/dropping at the dropbox. He then stopped in his tracks and asked, "You have to stamp every stack? Why don't you just stamp the top one and drop everything in there?" My assumption is that he couldn't wait to get me out of there, as he perhaps wanted to continue doodling on his phone. Freakin' toy cops!

Here’s an idea. Wear a suit to court, not a sport jacket and tennis shoes. 🙄
