Happy New Year! Here's a story to start off 2020. So close to getting a Ninja 300 at a great deal. Picked up all my gear and was ready to pick up the bike.

That's crazy that they raised it so much for one speeding ticket (even if it was 100 mph). Hopefully after one or two years it goes back to normal...

Is insurance compulsory in the US? It isn't here in South Africa.

I had the same problem, had some similar speeding tickets, geico wanted $3k a year for full coverage, same with most other places, then I lost all hope, figured I’d try calling one last place, “dairyland insurance “ and they would cover me for $888 (: I live in Missouri and don’t know if they cover all the states or not 👍 would be $74 a month full coverage or $40 liability !

You can get deep insurance discounts by doing things such as taking an MSF (Motorcycle safety course) and getting an endorsement. I got quoted at about $1100 a year out the gate from progressive and the insurance after an MSF and an endorsement on a financed bike dropped to $650 and finally $450 once the financed bike is paid off. I dont know if it would change your situation to much cause of the ticket but it could help!

Things have changed a bit since my riding days I guess. I rode a '75 BMW R 75/6 for many years until a back injury ended my fun. Perhaps a major ticket would have changed things, but I don't recall having to pay anything close to that. I do hope you are able to get a bike at some point. There's nothing like the freedom you feel on one. Happy New Year!

I would recommend you look at different insurance companies and call around! You never know if you don’t try. I have an insurance company that is more lenient on tickets... haha. Comes handy when I used to drive a sports car.
