Also never hurts to have someone more knowledgeable than you come along.

Always bring a friend (preferably knowledgeable in the rig)

When you're excited for a particular vehicle, you're more than likely going to look over certain things because you're so excited. A 2nd set of eyes will catch those and be able to convince you otherwise if there's something wrong.

Very good advice, also don't be afraid to walk away. Sometimes its just not meant to be there are other cars out there.

Best part of videos like this is everyone has that friend that wants to buy a lifted Jeep and has no clue they are getting ripped off. Now I can just send them this and not waste time talking about it.

Bought and sold many used vehicles including 4x4's. Look at the tires, how much left, 1/4, 1/2, 3/4, that will be a big price negotiator.
When underneath look for rust. Ask if it's been in any major accidents. Any minor accidents? Ask what doesn't work, rear electric window, sticky door lock? Is A/C cold, will it need to be serviced?
Nate's right, you're looking for items that will cost money were you to take it and get it serviced/worked on right away. Pretty much I've stayed away from dealers, just don't trust them, they make things too shiny with armorall and covered in black spray paint.

Welcome to the world of LR3/4 ownership. Number 1 tool: GAP IIDTool code-reader (the Bluetooth one). It will help identify & solve SO MANY things.... Best tool I bought for the car!

Tip for crawling under an air ride Land Rover without a jack/stand... lift the truck and pull the air suspension related fuses. Or leave a side door open. This will prevent the rover from dropping down to self level which it will do even when off.

If it has any rough country aftermarket, keep moving along.

The number one thing to look for when inspecting the underside of a vehicle is frame damage, or evidence of frame repair. Bushings, brakes, etc are fixable, and won't affect the resale value. If you've got two cars welded together, you might have an issue :)

Good advice Nate. The internet has made it easier to research. Especially on common drivetrain and electrical problems. Some older land rovers (Leyland era) were lemons from the showroom, but they were years ahead from an engineering perspective. Coil suspension, factory diff locks, including in the LT230 transfer case with 3.3 to 1 low range etc

There are just a few fellow YouTubers that I recommend to others, videos like this is the reason I started recommending your channel. You say what people can do and the right way to do it. I agree it's great to get a deal with a dealership but don't be offering someone down on their luck a $1000 for something you know is already underpriced for a quick sale at $1800.
Keep up the good work brother and maybe we can go trail riding one day when I go up to Spokane Washington to see my uncle or if you make it to Missouri I can show you all the good spots. Have fun and keep your tires facing the ground and your eyes open to all the awesome scenery God has given us to wheel 😊👍

Tip #1 when test driving any vehicle turn the wheel from lock to lock, in both forward & reverse, like in a parking lot. This will push the front end to the limit & expose any problems.
Tip #2 especially in the 4x4\ truck community, really inspect the tires & make sure they are not retreded tirers!

I bought an 2001 Xterra XE about 4 months ago for dirt cheap. Needed work, but I'm okay with that. I'm a DIYer for a reason.
