How about using a watt meter for a review? Some of us are counting watts of electricity.

Is the Sony 83A80L at $4000 a good buy at this size and price compared to other 83" OLEDs? Do you think it will be much cheaper by Black Friday? Thanks.

Thank your for answering my question, BUT! I do think it would be interesting to see how much of an impact the Bluray players Panasonic UB420/820/9000 (not UB450) actually have with their HCX processing when compared to a high end TV's processor.

Key areas of improvement with HCX (Panasonic Home Cinema Experience specialized chip):

- Resolution
- Sharpness
- Color
- Tone mapping (maps to the display's brightness - HDR10 only, not compatible with HDR10+ or Dolby Vision)

If a test could be made where we tested the HCX only vs TV processing disabled, HCX with TV processing enabled, HCX turned off vs TV processing turned on, then that would be very nice of you!

It's well known in the physical media enthusiast community, that this HCX chip is the best out of any DVD/Bluray/4k processors (especially for projectors!), short of probably high powered external hardware and software solutions such as Lumagen and MadVR. But is it also true that it's better than high end TV's?

One setting needs to be changed, too, in the Panasonic's display menu. You want to set the tone mapper to use LCD brightness if you own a high end OLED, this is because when the HCX processor was released with these new players, OLED's brightness was much lower than it is today on the mid-high end models.

A proper test done on this subject would settle the score once and for all, that we could link to when this question comes up (couple times a week in different forums, and Reddit /r/Bluray and /r/4kBluray)

Thanks for answering my question during your livestream, FOMO!

I believe you were talking about a 100” Hisense and yes, there is a U8n in that size. This is from Amazon Canada: Hisense 100U88N-100 inch Mini-LED PRO 4K QLED 144Hz Google TV with Quantum Dot technology, HDR10/HDR10+/HLG, 1500 Nits, IMAX Enhanced.
In Canada, the model is U88N instead of U8N.

I own a LG 55” G2, 2 55” EG9600 3D TVs $ a 55”
C6P 3D TV. The ARC port on one of the 9600’s does not work & on the other one a HDMI port has pushed in but it’s not the ARC port. do you think LG Support would offer a reduced price on replacement main boards for 2 9 year old OLEDs? Thanks & enjoy all your videos?

Fomo, Where are the 100 inch tvs? Is the 100 inch U8 better this year? I know last year it wasn't recommended.

I assume that for under $1, 000 in 55 inch size the same models in your chart at the 65 inch size would also be recommended at 55 inch size if available in 55 inch size? In your $1, 000 to $2, 000 price range I was surprised that the Sony A80L was not listed in the 55 inch size. Best Buy currently selling it for $1, 200.

These videos are always 2 hours long plus. Also, The S90C and S95C shouldn't be on this list. Neither shouod the X90L. You have 2024 TVs on this list mixed with 2023s. Then you should have the Q7, QM8 (2023) U7K, U8K. None of those are on the list. You can get a QM8 85" 2023 for 1400. You can get a U7K 85" for 1200. Why not have the LG C3 on the list? It's a 2023 and at more of a discount than the C4. The S90C is clearly the best bang for the buck right now. I find it better than the S90D, despite Samsung's horrid operating system and menus. You should also tell people that a 75 U7N or U8N is an IPS panel and not a VA. Again, still nothing beats Sony processing. Samsung mails in QD-OLED because they don't make as much profit as LCD-LED and Sony didn't want to pay Samsung for panels this year and were forced to make a decent LCD-LED TV this year on their own. A bravia 7-9 over an OLED? I think not. Its like choosing the best VHS tape over a decebt DVD. The technology of Mini-LED is worse. Yes, they are the kings of processing and upscaling but, you cand make a Honda Civic a matter what engine you put in it. Also there are only 2 Tvs that hot 1000nits on a 100% window. The 1400nit plus Samsung Terrace (not the greatest) and of course the Sony HX310 reference monitor for 30, 000 dollars plus. 975 on a Bravia 9 maybe. That's the goal for OLED. When Oled hits 1000nits on 100%, I'm done searching for the perfect TV. Too bad the brightest is about 290nits on a 100% window for the brightest reliable OLED TV. Don't confuse a 2% window with a 100%. I don't know who would spend 3, 000 plus on a Bravia 9 and not buy a comparable or less expensive OLED. Even Sony can't make an LCD look better than OLED. It's why the A95L is still the king in 2024 with a 2023 Samsung panel. Blue stacked phosphorus for all!

Thank you for covering 98"+ sizes, regardless of panel tech one chooses, there are already some great deals earlier this year. I have a large sunny living room with a 12' seating distance so I will buy a 98"+ tv this year. Just waiting for the large Hisense tv's and your reviews before I pull the trigger, right now the TCL 98" or 115" inch tvs are looking like a good choice, I know they are not oled of which I already have a few, but need the larger size that mini leds have and are pretty close in tech too. Thank you Mr. Fomo for getting us the info we need to understand tv tech!
