The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), said “Actions are according to intentions, and everyone will get what was intended. Whoever migrates with an intention for Allah and His messenger, the migration will be for the sake of Allah and his Messenger. And whoever migrates for worldly gain or to marry a woman, then his migration will be for the sake of whatever he migrated for.” [Bukhari & Muslim]

That being said, intentions alone are not enough as Muslims. Although extremely important, intentions should be combined with good action. Namely, doing what’s obligatory for us, trying our best to do what’s recommended, staying away from what’s disliked and avoiding what is prohibited.

Pro tip: Start with momentum. Fajr is excellent because it sets the tone for the entire day. Do some adhkar, reflect/journal, and get busy while the rest of the world is asleep. This builds momentum so by the time it’s noon, you’re already in a flow state while everyone else is just powering up. May Allah make us of the ones who strive for success in this world and the next. Allahumma ameen.
