Love riding fixed. It's addictive, and the feeling of control, and the bike being alive will always feel refreshing.

Rode a fixie for 8 years or so as I got one when I started uni. It definitely made me a better rider in every way. I may have to get it back out again.

Fixed is great in the winter. Gets you warmer and less to clean/ replace.

I love my old 53-17 fixie. Use it occasionally on a 40km loop. It’s def increases my natural cadence

I'm just building myself a Dolan fixie/single speed. Can't wait to get it sorted. I had one many years ago for commuting. Then, I had a single speed MTB and loved that. Living in rural Wales and being in my 60s may be more challenging, but still gonna love riding it.

After riding two seasons on the track training and racing it improved my pedalling style, it really helps smooth out your pedalling. Funny training on the track then riding home on a road bike after training your legs felt odd. I can't recommend training racing on the track enough especially for anyone new to cycling

Honestly the biggest wow factor for me is when I remove all my travelling/commuting stuff (toptube over/under bag, panniers always filled with stuff or clothes/groceries etc, fenders). It feels like I'm flying

Its the super short wheelbase sloping top tube and raked in fork that make track bikes addicting

I think most ppl mix-up the words "fixie" and "single-speed". The latter one is freewheeling, the first is not. 😉

Cracked a road frame and the importer was resistant to replacing it (which it was after 6 months). So I put brakes on my track bike, and put a freewheel on one side of the rear hub. Trained, commuted and raced track fixed (brakes off for track), and race road single speed for a season. Never been stronger, fitter or pedalled better. Best I did racing road was third in a club race- sprints were hard work! A mate put flat bars on that fixie and he commutes daily on it!

This guy is so tall he makes just about every bicycle look like a kids bike, while seth of berm peak is so small, just about every bicycle makes him look like a kid.

The difference between fixed and single/geared is that geared or single has a freewheel a fixie does not meaning you cannot stop pedaling this wont make you any stronger or better rather its a just for stamina because when youre forced to keep on pedaling itll force your legs to do more work so no not for strength rather durability and endurance
