Very helpful. I was so frustrated banging my head against the Google leviathan. Thanks a million.

I had just updated my external drive with ALL my pictures going to 2 generations back. Then, I bumped the table and the external drive fell on carpet. But still the needle or whatever got busted. It gave a rattling sound like scratching the disk. It will take, starting at $700 to $1, 300, to fix it without guarantee. Luckily, when it comes to pictures, I believe in redundancy. Lucky for me, I only need to retrieve 2019 & 2020 that live in the cloud. This tutorial saved my wallet.

I really miss the days when I had privacy and control over my own things, when I just put my photos in a file. Done.

Thanks! This was very helpful. Google is going to be deleting pictures beginning 6/1/2021 if you aren't a regular user of your account. So that was my motivation for searching for a way to download them and I found your video. I followed your instructions and was sent a zip file to my "downloads" file called "takeout-....zip"

First off thank you, but this is so insane for what should be as simple as "select all" and press download from google photos.

Thank you for posting this video. It resolved my issues! I previously tried to import pictures and videos from my android by using cable to copy files from my phone to my PC, but a lot of the files did not import.

Thank you for this video. I have the same question regarding eliminating the meta-data. Also, can this be used as a back up (I.e. - all of my photos will still stay in Google Photos after the export?)

Thank you so much for this awesome tutorial. I now have all of my photos in the 'takeout' zip folders. What I would like to do now is to move them to an external hard drive. I would like to store them in a folder where I do not need to click on each photo to see what it is. Is there a way of storing the pics as large icons (as they were presented on Google Pics)?
