What games will you recommend to your non-gamer friends?

One game I’d recommend for people who enjoy stories, catching games, and special indie games is Bugsnax. It’s such a charming game full of unique characters that you get to interact with. Plus, queer representation that isn’t made a part of the story! (Meaning they act that it’s normal and not that being queer is centered around any of the problems)

If you prefer platformers A Hat In Time is also a great indie game to play! Great characters that include voice acting just like Bugsnax. Various worlds and a silly story to follow, plus 2 dlcs if you play on the switch. An extra area to play harder versions of the levels, and if you choose to play on steam instead, an extra dlc and mod selections for extra playing!

Those are two of my favorites to play and I’ll occasionally replay because the controls are so nice to play and the music is so nice as well.

This list is not great. Once you know how Persona works it can be difficult to remember how absolutely confusing the system is. It takes the fully fleshed out dual systems of elemental weakness/staggering and demon fusing from Shin Megami Tensei games (which are themselves confusing to non-gamers or even RPG players who have never heard of that series), and adds a life sim element on top with a tenuous, difficult to grasp at first relationship to the battling. Couple this with exhausting tutorialization and interruptions, especially at the beginning of the game, and only people really committed and undaunted by weird systems will power through.

And Hades? That game is damn challenging. And if you don't play games, just the amount of particle effects on screen obscuring visibility (and the concomitant need to be confident in your button inputs, as you are basically inputting before you can react to on screen stimulus) is a deterrent. Absolutely not a game I would recommend to someone unaccustomed to games.

this list is awful, ni no kuni is an amazing game but absolutely not for a non gamer, persona 5 is like the opposite of a good starting place to get into gaming, it is so complex, you seem to have just taken an opinion of "hey good story = good for non gamers. im curious if AI was involved in generating this list
