The Supreme Court struck down Louisiana’s appeal to avoid redrawing its congressional district map after a lower court ruled the maps violate the Voting Rights Act. NBC News’ Jane Timm reports on the ruling and how it could have greater implications for districts in other states.

All congressional voting maps should be drawn by an independent third party. Period.

This is a big blow to Republican efforts to carefully draw congressional maps to unfairly restrict democratic voters.

The GOP finds it easier to disfranchise voters than to come up with an agenda to attract them. VOTE BLUE

Instead of thinking of ways to make life better for their citizens the Republicans sit around and try to figure out ways to keep black people away from voting booths. Not too racist.

In Pennsylvania, the high court here ordered redistricting. Instead of really funny looking geometric shapes, it's now all ovals of the same size. The house went blue first time in 50 years.

Now the maps have to be redrawn in North Carolina, Maryland, Kentucky, Utah, Texas, Arkansas, Ohio, and Wisconsin.

with this decision it is good news for the reason we have seen here in Louisiana, people running as democrat and then switching parties for no real reason.
another thing that should be implemented is an elected official and can not switch parties after they were elected to represent a district. if they do so a special election must be held

In 2019, the Supreme Court ruled along political lines that it could not review disputes over partisan gerrymandering. The conservatives in Rucho v. Common Cause insisted that the question of how state legislatures draw their maps is a “political” question and thus “nonjusticiable” by the Court.

The truth is more that the Court silenced the Constitution and set our democracy on a destructive course. As Justice Kagan wrote in the liberals’ dissent, the Court had “encouraged a politics of polarization and dysfunction.” The resulting “unchecked gerrymanders, she warned, “may irreparably damage our system of government.”

By giving a free pass to partisan gerrymandering, the Supreme Court literally encouraged Republican lawmakers to grab and abuse as much power as they wanted. So they have. Democrats must expand the Court to break the ultra conservative 6-3 majority vote or democracy dies with this SC

First Alabama, now Louisiana. There's still hope for America and democracy. Keep it up. We can do this, as long as we have faith, we will save the nation and democracy.
