I see that you need a more specific question to focus your though processes: imagine you are leading a life where riding your bike daily (on a mix of road, gravel and singletrack) is central to your existence. In this context, if you could obtain any limited, small number of bikes - say no more than 5 - without consideration of cost, which bikes would you get to serve the purpose of your daily riding.

Your discussion is infectious and enjoyable, but (with respect) is super conservative. Ebikes are part of everyone's future (age, fitness, family, cargo). Pinion gearbox; Hub gears - Shimano Nexus, Rohoff. Chain vs belt drive. All these are offering choices and developments that match (or exceed) cassette/derailleur choices. It's not just about carbon frames and wheels and drop handlebars - is it?

I honestly think it is indeed a sad statement if your sport/your hobby (even if its also a job here) would drastically change with money alone. And sorry, but the imagination of having a specialized high tech bike storage plus a buttler and a jet pack with unlimited money... If I could ask my 16 year old me, those would be probably the answers I would get ;P.
