Held at the Qudos Bank Arena in New South Wales, Australia, the Pacific Regional hosted athletes from the Asia and Australasia regions, and producer Michael McCoy went behind the scenes to catch them in their most challenging and celebratory moments.

On the final day of competition, 2017 Pacific Regional champ James Newbury continues to dominate. He sits in first at the start of Day 3 with a comfortable 60-point lead on second-placed Dean Linder-Leighton.

Linder-Leighton has all but secured his first trip to the CrossFit Games, but “nothing’s done till it’s done,” he says.

As predicted, reigning Fittest Woman on Earth Tia-Clair Toomey and 2017 Games second-place finisher Kara Saunders occupy the top two spots on the Leaderboard. Toomey holds a 30-point lead over Saunders on Sunday morning.

“Kara and I, we’re able to push each other really hard, and that’s awesome,” Toomey says. “I think it’s a very healthy competitive rivalry between the two of us.”

The final day of competition presents athletes with two tests: a long chipper calling for 50 reps each of various movements and a fast couplet of heavy thrusters and rope climbs.

Then Kara and Tia get to tangle again in Madison.
