We're walking through the NEW AAMC Practice Exam (FLE5)! Today's passage is CARS passage 5. Comment below how we can make the format more fun/engaging! We are always looking to improve!

In case you didn't know, I'm a current medical student and have a hobby for making free MCAT resources on YouTube. I was a professional MCAT tutor for years before I decided to go back to medical school and scored in the 100th percentile on my own MCAT.

I am so glad you guys have created these videos for me to compare my way of thinking and how I should be thinking on the MCAT. You guys have been really helpful, keep doing these videos. I am sure more students would be able to benefit from it.

Similarly to many of your other videos, this one is super informative and helpful! I particularly appreciate how you broke down the passage emphasizing the importance of connecting evidence for or against the main idea, all while focusing on developing your understanding and representation of the main idea. However, one note that I would improve upon is the language you used in explaining why question 2, “In the statement, ‘The American government preferred to ignore the rest, ’ what does the author mean by ‘the rest’?” When you said “why would the American government care about those people anyway?” That is inserting what seems to potentailly be a biased understanding of the American government, which -although true- might detract from focusing on the passage at hand specifically (and you have previously mentioned how it is helpful to try refraining from inserting previous knowledge or biases into these passages because we should take what the passage gives us which I wholeheartedly agree with). In fact, the passage at hand, “American Vietnam War Resisters in Canada” specifically provided evidence showing they ignored the American immigrants who were not part of the 4, 500 (out of 50, 000 total) which supports answer choice A; meanwhile, the passage says nothing about non-Americans migrating to Canada like what appears in answer choice D.) even specifically referring to all of the immigrants as Americans. As always, thank you so much for your amazing MCAT passage breakdowns and knowledge plus strategic approaches to the MCAT, Maggie. I am retaking an expired 515 in just a few days on June 29th, 2023. Hoping it goes at least as well as last time!! 😅
