An Inspector Calls is a play by J.B. Priestley, a British playwright of the early 20th century. The play is set in 1912, right before the breakout of WWI. A family of a well-known in town businessman is celebrating his daughter's engagement to the son of his number one rival in business. The dinner party is interrupted by a police inspector who brings news of a girl named Eva Smith committing suicide, and insists on conducting an inquiry. None of the family members seem to know the girl. But do they really? The play is overflowing with irony and aimed to show the audience how sometimes one might want to see the chain structure of the life.
