Schumann - Carnaval Op. 9, No. 12, 'Chopin' (Estonia L210)

A re-recording of Schumann's charming little dedication to Chopin. I'm surprised that the score indicates 'Agitato' on such a sweet and dainty melody. Perhaps Schumann wanted to convey an agitated burst of passion and infatuation? After the turbulence of the first section I feel compelled to play the repeat fully in Una Corda and at a more relaxed tempo to bring out the hushed sweet tones of melody.

Thank you for posting a beautiful piece. Your piano touch is always beautiful. I studied piano in Vienna, Austria, this Summer. It was wonderful experience !! I recommend you to do this. I'll come back next year, too.

Terrific job with this Schumann piece. I think it is one of his more beautiful pieces. I don't play too much Schumann as I've have been improvising so much for the last 30 years that my score reading has got rusty. I can play a lot of classic stuff from lead sheets but it is just the basic theme which I tend to jazz up a bit. Once you start using a lot of jazz chords it gets harder to go back as most Jazz players use lead sheets. My jazz is very soft and melodious. I don't care for hard jazz that just sounds like a bunch of scales thrown together :)

Wow that is amzing! Never heard this piece before it is very beautiful.

Was wondering if you ever looked at suggestions for pieces? I think the Mozart k545 Sonata could sound really good in your fast agitative style of playing :)

This is amazing! Lovely control and musicality. But the piano got so much more out of tune compared to your last video. What happened?
