How I Do a Final Polish on a Pounamu Toki

This is the way I am currently doing my final polish on the jade I am carving. I use it on toki, kuru, and other carvings. I sand and smooth the pounamu first with wet and dry sand paper up to 400 grit.

If you're only going to 400 grit W/D paper, it's more likely that the wax base that carries the aluminum oxide in the compound is cutting the 'dusty' surface of the jade, making it seem like there is some true polishing happening. Beeswax would be a less expensive alternative to fabulustre, giving exactly the same results.

I have seen guys use products like zam and other metal polishing compounds to polish jade, have you ever tried any other products to try to get a deeper glass like finish?
