Nice video Brent. Kudos to you two for suffering through the heat. I also enjoyed your excellent talk for the photography club in Albuquerque. Thanks for making the trip!

Hi Brent hope you're feeling better and camera lady too. Best regards from James in cold Scotland.

Cool setup with that "big white" lens. It seems to be a great alternative to carrying a full size tripod and gimbal head (which I always do 🫤)... I am surprised though that your not using a neoprene camo over that lens

Fun video Brent. I always like seeing you go birding because it mirrors my experience of intense focus on a bird to sudden distraction by something I hear over there.

Thank you for your nice and honest video! Maybe for you it is a 'slow' time for wildlife now (but try my place in the Netherlands, that is really empty now), but you have made some stunning photo's allright! And better times are coming yet, we know that.. I am excited myself about the R5m2 too, having fun shooting what's available, like dragonflies and butterflies!

You pointed out my biggest gripe too, the stills/video switch and the power switch. I really wish they had gone with the R7 switch. Video/stills/off, on the same switch on the right side is easy to use.

Canon releasing this camera in August hasn't been great for me. In this area, the PNW, we are in a time period when activity is low. Many birds have already left and the winter birds haven't arrived yet.

I'm glad you enjoy your new camera. That said, your still photos that you've shown us over time are just as stunning. I would suppose one way to measure the improvement in your photography would be to calculate your "keeper ratio", those images you deem worthy or a "keeper" per the number of shots you took on an outing. I use it just to see if I'm improving personally. As a professional, the more of the good photos you produce in a given timeframe would be beneficial.

Nice video Brent. Hoping to get the R52 soon enough. I'm curious of your mini tripod setup there, my shoulder isn't getting any better! #TrappedNerve

You may not necessarily need to switch to pure video mode. If you set up C3 in the settings that you want to use for video capture you can just press the little button by the shutter release. Although I do find it much more convenient to switch modes, using the little function button on the R5, which it doesn’t allow you to do that on the R5 II.

Thanks Brent and Camera Lady for another very enjoyable video. Love Camera Lady's video work. The composition is so pleasing to watch.
The R5 Mk ii seems by almost all accounts to be a great camera. Would love to get one but the two R6 Mkii's we have will suffice for the foreseeable future. But the image IQ of the stills generated by the R5 ii are outstanding.
Keep up the good work and look forward to more R5 ii reviews.

Just got back from Yellowstone and GTNP and here’s a heads up for you: there was a lot of smoke and haze from a wildfire that started August 16 and that is making wide landscape shots of the Tetons tough. Check conditions and park news before you go.

Maaaan the footage looks so crisp! Great video!
May I ask a couple questions?
What camera are you using to film yourself at 1:00? And also what are the legs attached to your fluid head, are they from a monopod? Thanks!

Focus tracking with the R5 II on the Sora was very impressive. Surprised it was able to hold tracking shooting through the reeds. Excellent video and photography. My goal is to also photograph the Great Grey in GTNP this month!

I will be out in the Tetons and the northern part of Yellowstone from September 24 through October 1. I would absolutely love to say hi if you’re up there during that time! I followed your videos for years, keep up the good work! I love the content!

SIR. I must defend that poor maligned coot chick. Personally I find the little-red-bald-man look of those (and even more so the moorhen/common gallinule) so ugly they wrap right back around to adorable. Love that footage of the chick and mom--those stubby little wings waving around, too cute! Love that astro timelapse, that came out great. I really need to do more (read: any) camping excursions. Great stuff as always, glad you're digging the R5II!

I'm really interested in the R5ii gonna wait a bit and see all the reviews from you, Duade and Jan but snappy AF l and Craw 2 are a big draw for me bummed about the loss of using the Mfn to switch to video

I will be in the Tetons week of the 22nd, hope to see you there! Hope to give my new R5ii a good work out. Got some great shots of a grey owl last year, hopefully they will be visible this trip as well. Have yet to photograph a bull moose in the Tetons, hopefully this will be my year. Are you doing a workshop while your there?

Brent, what is the gear and setup of equipment you are using to handhole the camera and heavier and bulky lens?
